This Moment with Jesus

You have let me experience the joys of life and the exquisite pleasures of your own eternal presence.
Psalm 16:11, LB

Like the mountain tops that reach far above the clouds into the clear sky there are those important times in our lives when we touch eternity. I call them ‘now’ moments.

So often I live for what I’m planning for the future or what provisions have to be made for my daily life. Other times I’m recalling past events or even, in my case, making films from previous video recordings. (When you get older you have more to recall.)
Therefore the present moments can be fleeting and go unnoticed, and yet, it’s these very moments that are precious to Jesus and should be precious to us.

God says, My Name is ‘I AM’, let us be ‘I am’ people, and just stop and be alive to Jesus for these moments, before we rush on to fulfil our plans. It can be a most joyful experience. It’s like spending time with someone you love, and afterwards you still feel a joy that continues until you meet with that person again. Although the Lord is always with us, these moments are ones of special intimacy.

In the UK we have something called the ‘Green Cross Code’. This is a safety rule for crossing the road. Basically it says, Stop, Look and Listen. It may serve to remind us to stop what we are doing, look up to God and listen to what He is saying. We can then go on safely, and joyfully. These moments are only limited by our busy lives. May we have many of these ‘Pinnacle’ moments where we touch Heaven ‘now’.

Moment by moment I’m kept in his love,
Moment by moment I’ve life from above –
Looking to Jesus ‘till glory doth shine,
Moment by moment, O Lord I am thine.
D.W. Whittle

Prayer: Lord, thank You for those precious moments of intimacy, when Your Holy Spirit warms my heart with joy, like the sunshine on the mountain tops. Praise Your Name. Amen.
