The ‘One Way’ to Salvation!

After his sad experience of failing Jesus, then the joy of being restored and commissioned to serve Him, Peter was a key figure in the development of the early church. He was one of those who were later accused of ‘turning the world upside down’ (Acts 17:6).
Peter knew the importance of the task ahead but he also knew the power of the Holy Spirit and the name of Jesus. When he and John were brought before the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem to give account of their actions, after the healing of a crippled beggar, Peter boldly declared ‘Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved’ (Acts 4:12).
In and through Jesus we not only have salvation from the punishment of all our sin, we also have a security that will last throughout eternity. This is something we have never deserved, but it’s part of what Jesus has achieved for us by His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross.
Then there’s that wonderful hope of what Jesus promised. Because we are recipients of this great salvation, we shall also be with Him for eternity, in glory.
Meanwhile, we are able to enter through the ‘door’ to the presence of God in worship and praise whenever we choose. We’re free to come and go as we choose. Whenever we’re in danger or distress, we can run to that door, and enter the safety and protection of our loving heavenly Father.
Being ‘saved’ in the way that Jesus spoke of has brought us into that protection and safety of God’s loving care for us. It’s given us the freedom of access to come into His presence for our daily sustenance and feed from His table. But, as Peter was saying, there’s only one way of achieving this, ‘there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved’.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me and restoring me. Thank You for bringing me into Your Kingdom and for the access I have to come to the Father through You. I thank You, too, for the prospect of being with You in glory, and pray that I might be kept faithful to You until then. Amen.
