Give your servant success today by granting him favour in the presence of this man.
Nehemiah 1:11, NIV

Lessons from Nehemiah - Day 1

Nehemiah had received news in Babylon that the walls of Jerusalem were broken down and that the gates had been burned with fire. He was greatly disturbed and cried out to God for his people.

Nehemiah was cupbearer to the king. He was a man of vision with a plan, but he recognised that it had to be birthed in prayer. He needed the Lord to grant him success. If we are going to achieve great things in our lives we need to pray like Nehemiah did - recognising that it is God alone who can give us success and victory.

Do you have a dream or a vision that you believe is from God? Then preparation in prayer and planning will be a huge key to your success. Nehemiah did not rush into the king and blurt out what he wanted. If he had, he would probably have blown it.

He fasted and prayed, he asked for God’s favour and success – then he waited for the king to initiate the conversation with him. We too need to wait for God’s timing. Then, when the moment came, he asked boldly. He took courage and he asked the king for everything he wanted.

God answered his prayer. These are the steps to success that you can apply in your life to establish the dream or vision God has given you. Let’s learn from Nehemiah.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to birth in prayer all that I attempt for You today. Give Your servant success by granting me Your favour. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
