The amazing love of God

Who can ever separate us from Christ`s love? I am persuaded beyond doubt that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35, Amplified Bible

Today, I want to look at the truth that God, who is the creator of heaven and earth and of all things seen and unseen, loves each one of us with that depth of love that carried Jesus to the cross.

So often we live our lives in separate compartments; the practical day to day concerns, our work, our recreation and our family times to name a few, and if we know Jesus, there are those times we acknowledge and let Him touch some part of our lives. This Jesus, who is God, is He who desires that we know His love in such a way that it encompasses all of our being, all of the time.

We may not recognise God in our daily lives except on really ‘special’ spiritual occasions. The truth is that, if God is in us and cares so much that He knows the very number of the hairs on our heads, He is interested in every aspect of our lives. The challenge today is that we all look for God in the everyday and normal activities in which we live. He is there, and, if we look, we will find Him.

We have all had that experience where something good happened in an unexpected way, or where a negative situation was turned into a positive one. Sometimes there is that prompting to do, or not to do, something, which we can’t rationally explain. His Holy Spirit is there guiding and prompting us, as He has promised to do. If we belong to Jesus and acknowledge Him, we can see His influence in our ordinary everyday lives.

But sometimes awful things happen, and it is hard to see where God is. Often, we do not have the answers to the question, “Why did God let this happen?” We can only and ever trust that God is who He says He is and is the one who gave His beloved Son to die for us. He is the Comforter and the one who can heal all our wounds and sicknesses. The relationship we have with Him is the one certainty that can sustain us through times of trials and of blessings. We ought never to doubt that He loves us, no matter what.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please help us to trust in You, no matter what the circumstances are. Please help us to acknowledge You in all the aspects of our lives. Give us eyes and ears to see and to hear You. Thank You, Lord, for that unfailing and everlasting love. We are in awe of You. Amen.
