Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 3:5, NIV

Tarzan used to fascinate me. Here was this guy swinging from tree to tree with amazing agility and grace. The next rope always seemed to be there, ready for him to catch. What I noticed was that there were two aspects essential to his momentum as he went forward.

The first was he had to grab the next rope, trust it was fine, and then let go of the first rope. If he didn’t let go of the first rope he was either going to just stop in mid air, or split himself in half. He had to let go and trust the rope that was there was alright, and was going to take him further in his journey.

The second was that sometimes he had to leap to the next rope after he’d let go of the first. For a few seconds there would be nothing but open space below him, and just a rope ahead that he had to catch. As he caught it, again he had to trust that it was alright, and then he could carry on his journey.

The challenge today is - are we holding on to an old rope that God is saying we’re to let go of? If we keep holding on that old rope we’re going to end up like Tarzan, stopping in mid air or getting split apart. Maybe it’s time to take that leap of faith, and the Lord’s saying not to worry, as He will provide the next rope, but you need to let go. Has the Lord asked you to trust Him and let go? Has He asked you to let go of the past so you can go into the future. The Lord says to us in Proverbs 3:5 ‘Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding’.

Is it time to swing on and trust Him with the details of the next step?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I have heard Your call and know that You are asking me to catch the next rope. I now trust You with the next stage of this journey and thank You that You will never leave me. I now decide to continue on the journey You have called me on. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
