Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Sign of the Rainbow

by Tanya Person

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20, NIV

As I consider the glory of God and His promises I am reminded of the rainbow. It was the sign God put in the sky to remind us of His Covenant that He would never again destroy the earth with a flood. But it also serves to remind us of all His promises. God is faithful and keeps His promises. He promises to protect us if we stay under His covering. He promises to provide for us as we do His will. When He keeps His promises it’s for His glory, and we can then testify to the glory of God for all He’s done for us.

One day I heard of a friend in need and God put it on my heart to leave my house and meet that need. As I drove down the road I noticed many people stopping their cars and getting out with cameras in their hands. I looked to see what everyone was so excited about and I saw the most beautiful, perfect double rainbow that I’ve ever seen! It filled my heart with thankfulness to God for His faithfulness and His protection.

As I pondered this marvel over the next few days God used it to speak to me. It was as I was stepping out to do the simple thing He’d told me to do that I saw His glory and the reminder of His promise. And I felt God telling me to not sit back and wait to see Him fulfill His promises, but to step out in obedience to what He’s called me to do. It’s as I do this that I’ll see those promises come to pass.

We can follow the example of Peter, who said to Jesus, “Lord, if it’s You, tell me to come to You on the water.” And Jesus answered, “Come.” When we know that God’s called us, we can step out of the boat and take those steps of faith, knowing that God’s faithful to hold us up. That’s when we see God’s provision and His glory.

Prayer: Lord, let me hear Your call and help me to have the faith to step out and see Your glory and provision. Thank You for all Your promises and for the rainbow that reminds us of Your promises. Amen.
