Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Seasons

by Vicky Munro

But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:18-19, NLT

Almost two years ago I moved from the city to a lovely little town. My plan was to commute to the city and continue to be part of the team in the ministry that I had been involved in for three years. And I even had plans to continue to do part time work. So, the first couple of months I travelled back on forth on public transport. But it soon became apparent that I wouldn’t be able to keep this up, as I was exhausted. I also began to get a sense that my time in the city was coming to an end, and I became unsettled.

I saw what was in my community that I could get involved with, and I tried different avenues. Although I got positive responses, nothing seemed to be happening, and I became frustrated. I began to pray and seek the lord, and after a short time the Lord said I was to go into a new season. I had to move out of the old season.

Part of me was afraid of letting go of what had been in some ways a security for me, but then the verse Jeremiah 29:11 came to mind. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”.

I then was able to say, “OK God. I will step down from my involvement from the city”.  Then the doors opened where I lived. God knew my fears and insecurities and opened the doors for me to then take the final step and resign from the city. He cares about us, His children, so much. I’m now flourishing and can honestly say I’m extremely happy and know that God has His hand on my life!

Are you sensing it’s the end of a season in your life? Are you unsure what is next? Or maybe you know what is next, but you are having a bit of fear about letting go of the old. Can I encourage you today to talk to God and to seek His face? ‘Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you’ (1 Peter 5:7).
