Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Impossible?

by Philip Asselin

Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Matthew 19:26, NLT

Pause for a moment and think about what you used to consider as impossible, but is now not just possible, but you have seen and experienced it first-hand, as fact. What we need to get our head around is that ‘impossible’ is just an opinion based on our current experience. If that experience were to change then the ‘impossible’ would go away.

Jesus did the impossible countless times, but the disciples thought, “that’s just Jesus. I can’t do that (for example healing or deliverance). It`s impossible!” The answer Jesus had was a simple one. He gave them all authority to cast out all demons and heal all sicknesses and diseases (Luke 9:1). Not just some, but all. I can imagine a very dubious group of disciples looking at each other and thinking, “that’s impossible. I’m not Jesus.” Yet, when they went out as He instructed, they found out that the impossible no longer applied, as opinion was overruled by fact. They left in at least some unbelief and returned in complete belief (Luke 10:17).

I have been in the healing and deliverance ministry over thirty years, but sometimes I am still faced with situations where doubt creeps in. It`s not a feeling that this is an impossible situation with this person, but “this looks a really tough one”. My wife and I had such a situation a week ago and yet God so transformed the person’s life that he still can’t stop talking about it. We keep pointing to Jesus as the God who makes the impossible possible.

This flies in the face of the opinion we have created based on experience. How often have you heard someone (or even yourself) say, “this is just the way I am.”  The truth is that you need not stay that way. God is not just willing but desiring for you to change and become the person He sees you are, the one He says you are, but you haven’t gone past the ‘impossible’ yet. Why not take a chance and start to ask God to change you from the inside out. Maybe you could seek prayer in your church or come to Ellel Ministries for help and just start to believe the words of Jesus in today’s verse, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”  Notice the verse doesn’t say some things or even most things, but everything.  Yes, even your impossible situation.
