God’s Care for Us

The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
Psalm 121:7-8, NLT

So often we take God’s care for us as His children for granted and we do not thank Him enough for the countless times He steps in to prevent various accidents or incidents in our lives. Sometimes we are aware of his intervention but many times we are not. We don’t just become God’s precious children when we invite Him into our lives, but He constantly watches over us and cares for us on a moment to moment basis.

Recently, when talking with a friend in Jerusalem, I heard about someone who was coming out of a building in the city when suddenly her feet were rooted to the spot and she could not move either forwards or backwards. She wondered what was happening to her, when suddenly, up the street, the approaching bus that she was due to get on exploded and many people died that day in this bus bombing attack. I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to experience this, but it does make me realise that our times are in God’s hands and He protects us every day as we come and go, and move about, in this world that we live in.

We need to be daily tuned into Him and listening to that still, small voice, which is the Holy Spirit’s prompting and, not just listening, but obeying His nudges. How often have we all missed one opportunity or another because we have not heeded those little promptings? I am so thankful that the Lord has the ability to stop us in our tracks like the lady in the story, and, above all, that He cares for us so much He would do that for you and for me. Do we day by day ask Him to protect all our comings and goings, or are we do busy going about our daily errands and taken up with our own busyness that we forget to include Father God in our day-to-day living?

I believe He wants us to include Him even in the most mundane tasks of life. He wants us to live our lives inclusive of Him in every decision and every situation, because He cares for us.

As it says in 1 Peter 5:7, ‘give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you’. We are so blessed to be His children and that He watches over us every moment. Let us today make a conscious effort, if we don’t already do so, to include Him in every aspect of our lives.

Prayer: Father we thank You so much that You watch over and care about us every moment of our lives. Forgive us for the times we push You aside and are not attentive to that still small voice which guides us through our daily decisions and actions. Keep us so close to You today and in every coming day that we never step out from under the protection of Your covering. Amen.
