Seeds of the Kingdom

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

by Nicky Hemery

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother`s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139:13-14, NIV

A few years ago when on holiday in Spain we discovered a museum for all things miniature.  Some items were so tiny you could only appreciate the craftsmanship through a magnifying glass.

I was especially amazed by some grains of rice which had been intricately carved into different shapes.  To the naked eye they looked little more than a grain of rice, but when magnified you could see the incredible intricate detail carved into each tiny grain.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to look down on planet earth at all the billions of people.  So many of us that from a distance we could look like grains of rice or the sand on the seashore.  Yet God has created every one of us and intricately knit us together in our mother`s womb.  Each one of us is different and a work of art in The Craftsman`s hand.

And after we are born God`s work is not finished.  He continues to make us and mould us into unique individuals with a purpose and destiny in life.

We may think we are "just another person" on this vastly populated planet and "no one in particular" – but to God, our Heavenly Father, every one of us is unique and special.

Do we feel that way today?  Perhaps it is time to ask God to show us who we are and how He sees us under the magnifying glass of His craftsmanship.

Prayer: Lord I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful.  Please help me to know that fully in my life and to begin to understand how you you see me.  Thank you for making me me.  Amen.
