Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Different Gifts

by Diane Watson

Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel.
1 Corinthians 14:12, NKJV

I just love it when people use their gifts and abilities to build up the body of Christ. At our Ellel Centre in Western Australia we have team devotions each morning and each member of team has the opportunity to share something. One morning one of our team members decided that we would pray a little differently and use banners (or flags) to worship and petition God for the needs of our Centre.

It was such an inspiring time. Instead of just sitting and listening to a devotional talk we were part of things. It’s something I would have never thought of doing and so I was praising God for putting our team together with different giftings, to encourage one another. That is what Jesus wanted us to do; to use our gifts to benefit the body.

God has made us all unique and has given each one of us different gifts. Let’s be bold to use the gifts God has given us to build one another up, and not wish we were someone else, having their gifts instead.

Enjoy being who God has made you, and rejoice in how God has made others to enhance our lives.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You so much for giving me friends, family and colleagues who can encourage and inspire me. Help me not to be envious of others, but to delight in them and encourage them in their gifting, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
