Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Creation Revisited.

by David Cross

The Lord God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely: but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die.
Genesis 2:16, NAS

I recently found myself taking a novel look at this foundational story. Let me share it with you.

God created man and woman. He released them to have dominion over His created world and gave them a smart phone to keep in permanent contact with Him for everything that they would need in the way of practical and spiritual support. They noticed that the phone had an attractive mobile app icon on the touch screen, entitled `All you need to know to take control of your own life`, but God said that this was not good for them and its use would result in their losing the intimate and life-saving connection with Him.

Sometime later there was a cold call from a very persuasive character who said that he highly recommended the app, and that it would simply help them live life as they chose, rather than having to constantly follow God`s instructions. (In fact they found out later that the caller had a substantial shareholding in the app).

It was just too tempting, so they touched the screen, and soon discovered an endless and confusing supply of information, some good, but some that was, quite frankly, evil. It was all very overwhelming and frightening compared with the security they had known before. The nearness of God had gone and they felt terribly exposed. They tried hiding their feelings from each other but only felt even more unsafe. God still contacted them from time to time but it was not the same as during those precious early days of friendship with Him and with each other.

It gradually became apparent that God had a remarkable long-term plan to sort out the mess, but what a lot of trouble was still to come from just one app, or was it an apple?

Prayer: Father, I`m so sorry that wanting to do it my way and not Your Way has always been a big problem for me. I`m ready to begin afresh with You, with whatever is Your plan for my life. Amen.
