Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Another Day for Worship or Whinging

by David Cross

The people thirsted there for water; and they grumbled against Moses and said, “Why, now, have you brought us up from Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
Exodus 17:3, NASB

Every day of our lives, as followers of Jesus and covenant children of God, we have a choice of worship or whinging, a choice of gratitude or grumbling, a choice to demand our rights or desire His righteousness.

Whatever the circumstances, our choices will make a vital difference to the outcome of each day, both for ourselves and for those around us. God does not ask us to live in an unreal place of declaring that all is well when it is not, but rather to come to Him, the One who truly desires our well-being, and through prayer, petition and thanksgiving make our requests known to Him (Philippians 4:6).

You would have thought that the people of God would have remained a little more thankful to Him for His parting of the sea to allow their escape from the Egyptians but, not unlike what we experience in the times in which we live today, they were all to ready to look for someone to blame when things were not going well.

As children of God, He calls us to step away from the culture of entitlement and blame, so prevalent in the world around us, and to come in worship to Him, our heavenly Father, ready to receive His protection and provision, in whatever way He thinks best. What a blessing it is when we encounter someone with a genuinely thankful heart! Today we have the opportunity to be that blessing for others.
