Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Always Good

by Jim Person

Not a single person on earth is always good and never sins.
Ecclesiastes 7:20, NLT

I often judge myself on the perceived abilities of others I esteem to live sin-free lives. But Solomon, in this single verse, reminds us that all people fail and they are not sin-free. That is why we needed a Saviour to come, live, die, and rise from the dead.

I know in my own life, if I compare myself with others, I can think that I’m the only ‘bad’ person, when the reality is far from that. If I dwell on my wickedness, I eventually slip into that void of despair that I sometimes wallow in. But we can never ‘always’ be good, or we would never recognize our need for a Saviour.

If you are in this place today of comparing yourself to others, stop! Look up! Train your mind to dwell on Jesus’ redemption of you, and accept the reality of your inability to be a hundred percent good all the time, just as all other people in the world cannot.

Let hope arise in your heart. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, and thank Him for His amazing grace for you. Then repent of your failures, ask for forgiveness, dust yourself off, and move on in the strengthening of the Lord’s grace for you to live right in Him.
