For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11, NKJV

A daughter was telling her mother how everything was going wrong in her life. She was failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend was moving away.

Meanwhile, her mother was baking a cake. She asks her daughter if she would like a piece. “Absolutely Mum, I love your cake.” “Here have some butter,” her Mother offers. “Yuck” says her daughter. “How about a couple of raw eggs?” “Gross Mum!”
“Would you like some flour then, or maybe some baking powder?” “Mum, all those things are yucky!” To which her mother replies: “Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves, but when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake!”

Many times we wonder why God would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But He knows that when He puts all these things in His order, they work out for the good! We just have to trust Him and, in His time, His purposes will unfold
in ways more wonderful than we could ever have known.

Just a pinch of salt, which would taste awful on its own, makes a vital difference to the flavour. So God knows exactly what is needed to get the final result. And it`s God`s infinite love that binds all the ingredients together. He may lead us into the `valley of weeping`, because He wants to show us the `door of hope`.

God gave us His ultimate recipe for a sinful heart, when He sent Jesus into the world to save His people from their sins. `And she (Mary) will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins` (Matthew 1:21).

Let us trust Him to work out His recipes in our lives for, `we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose` (Romans 8:28).

"Trust Him when dark doubts assail thee, Trust Him when thy strength is small, Trust Him when to keep on trusting –Seems the hardest thing of all." L.A. Bennett

Prayer: Lord, give us that `trusting heart`, that we will have peace whatever life throws at us, for You are our Rock, our Sun and our Shield, in Jesus` name. Amen.
