Bringing Joy to Others

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11, NKJV

Have you ever asked Father God for a touch of His joy in your heart? We may find that touch of joy in His creation or a piece of music which enables our spirit to soar. I experienced God’s joy through the simplicity of a good deed. A bulb had blown in one of my headlights and I was wondering whether I was safe driving in the teeming rain? So the car’s workshop was my destination on the way home.

The young man suggested I stay put in the car while he investigated – a new bulb was needed, but was not the answer, as a fuse was eroded with being wet and had to be changed. The problem went deeper, a piece of wiring needed replacing. When it was done I went inside to pay. The owner of the workshop said to me ‘Here’s your keys, nothing to pay. It’s your first Christmas present’. Wow! He must have known I was already wondering how much it would cost. Thanking him profusely he said ‘Just pass the word around - that we’re good – not the free bit’. As I left the workshop his mate said to him ‘What’s the matter, gone soft in the head?’ We all laughed and I made a quick exit in case he changed his mind!

Prayer: Father God, thank You for being a God full of kindness and love. Please bless that man You used to make my heart sing – it wasn’t the cost but the gesture. Show me how I can do something simple yet profound for someone else to bring Your joy into their day. Amen.

Ann Colenutt first experienced Ellel Ministries in 1996 at a Summer School at Glyndley Manor. After a few short years as head of a small primary school, God called her out into a place apart for a year and then to go deeper with Him by attending the NETS School at Pierrepont. Since then she has been involved at Glyndley Manor once again, in a variety of roles. She has three grown up children and is now moving into the excitement of being a grandparent. Her heart is to see God at work restoring His hurting lambs into their destiny.
