What Seems Right

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

So often I’ve heard this phrase, “It seemed right to me at the time,” coming from an individual caught in a snare of the enemy, after going into a situation, which had all the appearance of success, only to find that it was a place of disillusionment and sorrow. This situation, which seemed right, ended up causing broken trust, broken relationships, bondage, and death to many areas of their spiritual life.

All around us today we see people enter into situations, believing them to be the right thing. There are politicians promising change, governments entering into treaties, even churches embracing policies which seem right to them, but which are more soulish than Spirit-led.

Are you about to enter into something in your life which seems right to you?

After declaring His path to the cross, Jesus was approached by Peter. Peter had in his mind what needed to be done, and it didn’t involve what Jesus had just spoken. So Peter rebuked Jesus. Jesus’ path to the cross conflicted with what Peter deemed was right.

What was Jesus’ response? To some this seems harsh of Jesus. He told Peter he didn’t have in his mind what was of God, but what was of the enemy. However, we know this was right, because Peter was seeking man’s way instead of God’s way.

Jesus taught us by example to do the Father’s will, not our own. Jesus said, “I only do what I see the Father doing.” Today I want to encourage you to not do what seems right to you, but to do what’s right to the Father.

Prayer: Jesus, help me to see Your way in my current situation. I want to do Your will, not mine, in it. Help me to find wisdom from You in this, and to do it well. Father, I want to do what I see You are doing. Amen.
