Healing the One New Man - Mod C

Jesus final prayer before He went to the cross and suffered all manner of humiliation and physical pain was that through His sacrifice, his disciples and their spiritual offspring would be unified to such a degree that they would reflect the unity between Himself and the Father. This begs the question why we see what seems to be the exact opposite happen over the course of the last twenty centuries since Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father?

The reality of the last 400 years has seen the church split and divide into all manner of factions and theological streams. Rather than becoming more unified, more and more distinctions and varieties of Christianity are arising and bringing confusion and disorder rather than unity and cohesiveness.

If the Church is the Body of Christ and we consider healing to be restoring God's order in an individual's life, it would stand to reason that restoring God's order in the larger Body of Messiah would effect a healing on a Church-wide scale.

In this course, we will look at the history of the church following Jesus' ascension as well as the causes for and roots of disunity and disorder in Christianity. We will consider steps to restoring the church to the unified condition God intended for it and which will help usher in the return of the King for His spotless Bride. We will examine the breaking of the continuity of the covenants between the Old and New Testaments and look at practical means of mending those breaks and restoring unity which will release healing power in the Church and provoke Israel to jealousy.
