Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Roger and Christine Pook

Roger: Executive Leader and Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe
Christine: Deputy Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe

Roger and Christine are the regional directors for Ellel Ministries in Central and Eastern Europe. They married in 1967, and have three children. Roger taught Russian and French for 22 years, before moving to the financial services industry for 6 years. Christine worked for many years as a health visitor

It was when Roger and Christine visited Romania in 1991 to take humanitarian aid that God captured their hearts for Romania and Eastern Europe. Over the next few years He made it clear that they should leave the UK and serve Him in Eastern Europe, and Ellel Ministries was the way to do this - both of them having been trained as prayer ministers at Glyndley Manor.

They moved to Hungary in January 1996 and have lived there ever since. The work expanded outside Hungary to the nations around, nations which had previously been under the influence of the Soviet Union. Roger and Christine became managers for the work in these nations in 1998 and in 2006 Roger became director, with Christine as deputy director. Roger is now regional director for Central and Eastern Europe and Christine is deputy regional director.

Roger is enthusiastic about vintage transport, especially trains, enjoys "making things", learning languages, and occasionally plays balalaika and 12-string guitar. Christine’s main hobby is gardening and they have created a beautiful English-Hungarian garden from scratch around their Hungarian home.
