A New Season

A Personal Announcement from Peter and Fiona Horrobin

Dear Friends,

When God first gave me the vision for what became Ellel Ministries, back in 1970, I had no concept of what God had planned. Then, when the work began in 1986, I thought we were establishing a Healing and Training Centre for the North-West of England! But, the fifty Ellel operations in over thirty five different countries show that God had other ideas!
As the work grew, God called new people into the gaps created by growth, and the work is now led by an Executive Leadership which represents all sectors of the ministry and all the geographical regions of the work, and an amazing team of International Leaders who are faithfully establishing and developing the work in their regions - faithful men and women, called of God, and loyal in service.
It isn’t just growth that necessitates change, however. The passing of the years determines different seasons in all our lives and at the present time Jill Southern, Denise Cross and Anna Wood are stepping down from their positions on the Executive Leadership, soon to be followed by Derek Puffett and David Cross next year.
Together they have served the ministry for about 120 years, and the whole work owes them a huge debt of gratitude for everything they have contributed to the Ellel world. We truly thank God and praise Him for everything they are and all they have done.
At the same time, we are thankful and excited by the way God is providing for the future by calling a new generation of younger leaders who have now been appointed to the Executive Leadership – Herman Redelinghuys (South Africa), with Robert Steel, Lindsey Hanekom, Paul Stanier and Peter Brokaar (UK).
I know that many have been thinking “how long will Peter and Fiona keep going!” We, too, have asked the same question and have been praying about the future for some long time!
In September 2019 I first shared my decision with the Executive Leadership to remain as the International Director until April 2022. And then that in April 2021 Fiona and I would give the whole ministry twelve months’ notice of our joint intention to stand down, which is why I am sharing this news with you now.
I also asked the Executive Leadership to prayerfully consider who should be appointed to become the next International Director after I have stood down. I am delighted today to share with you the news that at our last physical Executive Leadership Meeting at Ellel Grange in March 2020, before the pandemic closed everything down, the Executive were unanimous in nominating and appointing Andy Taylor, with his wife Cath as his assistant, to be the next International Director. They are ideally equipped for the role.
Andy has worked closely and faithfully with me for over thirty years, and no-one understands the heart of the ministry better. For a season, Cath was my secretary before she married Andy and together they have walked in harmony with us, as they have served the Lord and carried many responsibilities within the ministry in the UK, Australia and USA.
So, it is with great joy and thankfulness to the Lord that Fiona and I are making this announcement today that, in twelve months’ time, Fiona and I will stand down from office. I will then hand over the baton of leadership as International Director to Andy Taylor, with Cath alongside him, to lead the work into the future.
This will then be a new season of life for both Fiona and me. We are not stepping out of the ministry altogether, but only out of all executive responsibility. We will continue to support the ministry in whatever ways the Lord leads and allows, by writing, teaching, mentoring and advising leaders and doing whatever else the Lord has in store for us both. We are profoundly grateful for the privilege of having been able to serve the Lord together for so long with such an amazing team of friends and co-leaders.

With love in Jesus,

Peter & Fiona Horrobin
