God’s Love

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither the present or the future, or any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39, NIV

As I looked at the picture of the universe pinned up on the walls of Ellel Grange cellar I was amazed at the wonder of God’s love for us. The picture shows the whole galaxy with trillions of stars of different shapes and sizes. They are perfectly aligned. The sun is one of these stars. It’s part of a solar system which includes a tiny Earth, a minute Pluto, and other larger and smaller planets.

As I focussed on the Earth I noticed that it appears almost invisible when compared to the whole galaxy, and it’s very small compared to the sun and other large planets. Yet the earth is so big with an equatorial circumference of 40,075.017 km and a meridian circumference of 40,007.86 km. I then considered the size of the continents, the countries, the cities, the houses, and finally me.

Compared to the whole great universe I’m just a microscopic tiny dot on the big picture. This explains why many can’t grasp the fact that God loves them as individuals! It’s amazing that even though He knows all the stars by name He considers us much more valuable. We’re so precious to Him that He knows the very number of hairs on our heads!

David pondered on all this and said ‘When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have, set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?’ (Psalms 8:3-4).

God’s love is amazing. He’s lavished His love upon us and cares for every single person! It’s beyond our understanding and imagination! He loves us so much that He gave His son as a ransom for our sin. He loves us continually and unconditionally, and wants us to come into a relationship with Him that is deeper and stronger! HE LOVES US BECAUSE HE IS LOVE!

Sometimes we need to stop and ponder, and know in our hearts instead of our minds, that God loves us. HE LOVES YOU INDIVIDUALLY!

‘And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God’ (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Prayer: Father, I know You love me. Please let me know in the depth of my heart of the greatness of Your love towards me. Help me to put more trust in Your unfailing love as I walk with You day by day. Teach me to love You more, Amen.
