Seeds of the Kingdom

Utmost Significance

by Peter Brokaar

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

The way we perceive the world ultimately decides the way we see ourselves. For example ‘We are nothing but stardust’ is a popular claim. If this were true, this tragically leaves us without any value or purpose. We would be bound to live our lives without any hope of ever seeing our deepest questions answered. Our deepest longings would never be met. If we come to believe this to be true then the enemy has robbed us of the most precious truths that are in the heart of God.

Praise God - our biblical heritage speaks of much better things. In the creation story we see a God who lovingly creates the universe and puts mankind central in all His doings. Our magnificent planet, as well as all those beautiful stars and those galaxies full of wonder have been created by God knowing that we would be enjoying observing and exploring the universe He put us in.

Our existence, lived in context of our relationship with Father God, is intended to give us a sense of value. God wants us to grasp our individual significance. Ultimately, our worth can be measured by the price God gave for us: the blood of His own Son. Jesus came to die- for us. He didn’t come to die for the angels, the apes, or life on Mars. He died for us, for you and I. He gave His own life to win us back. This is what shows us our value more than anything else ever could.

For us as believers, it is so important that we carefully monitor our beliefs and are not swept along with the winds of doctrine which have engulfed the world. Many modern philosophies are being presented as ultimate truth, but in reality they are nothing but man-made ideas. They do not and cannot make sense of our existence. Only the Lord can do that. There is absolutely no other way to lasting joy and fulfilment than knowing our God and His immeasurably deep love for the people He created.

To finish we can read and ponder these beautiful words written by Samuel T. Francis. May they aide us in appreciating our significance and in living our lives in the beauty of God’s love!

`O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!`

Prayer: Thank You Father for lovingly creating me and for mercifully saving me. I now renounce ALL worldly belief systems which would undermine the value and purpose You have given me. I praise You that I am loved by You. Help me to live my live in the richness of your love! Amen.
