Before they joined Ellel Ministries, Ken and Joy were local leaders of Telefriend Ministry (a telephone counselling service) in Durban for 19 years. Ken took early retirement to work as a church counsellor for two and a half years before God’s call came to go to Pierrepont in UK to do the NETS course.
They say: "We were privileged to hear Peter Horrobin speak at a conference in Durban in 1996. Our love for Ellel Ministries started from that time. In 2006 we were again privileged to attend the Ellel Ministries 20 year celebrations at Pierrepont. This eventually led to us doing NETS 27. Following that, we then worked at Ellel Shere House in Pretoria which laid the foundations for us pioneering Ellel Ministries in Durban in KwaZulu Natal."
Ken and Joy celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2014. They have four daughters, all married, and 11 grandchildren. They also have one great grandchild. Two daughters live in Australia, one is in New Zealand and one daughter lives in Durban.
