My past was rejection, occult, drugs, drink, abuse and rape. I was a teenager in the 60's and I lived life, as I thought, to the full and excess.
After a painful relationship break up I went to Switzerland as an au pair for an English vicar. There I gave my life to the Lord. On return to England I returned to drink, drugs and men. This recurrence of coming back to the Lord and then back to drink went on from 1975 to 1991 when a Christian friend lent me a book by Graham Powell called 'Christian Set Yourself Free'.
After finishing the book that morning I realised that I needed deliverance. I stepped off the train at Victoria station to go to work and I was a few yards from the ticket barrier when the IRA bomb went off. The noise and flying debris, along with panic and bodies starting to heap up on top of each other, while I stood with my hands over my head and waited. I walked away unscathed. Shocked, yes. It felt as if an invisible shield just came round over me. I knew that the Lord had protected me and that I needed to get my life sorted out quickly!
It so happened that a friend recommended I go to a conference in Brighton (1991) called The Battle Belongs to the Lord. I thank God for Ellel Ministries, as that conference was the start of my freedom in Christ.
Afterwards I went along to Glyndley Manor where Peter was talking under canvas in the field and the house was still getting the finishing touches before opening. I and my mother, who I had had a very rocky and rebellious relationship with, went to the first or second Healing Retreat. I still remember those few days, along with the conference, as being the most remarkable in my life.
A lot has happened since 1991 but the Lord has set me free from alcoholism, rejection and smoking (this is just a few of the things!)
In 2005, having come out of an abusive marriage, I returned to Glyndley Manor and signed up for the Modular A & B and the Investigating Series. I couldn't get enough! I am now on the ministry team.
I'm getting choked up just writing this as I look back over my life and to the work that the Lord has done in my life and the freedom in Christ that I now enjoy so very much.
Thank you Lord Jesus and thank you Ellel Ministries for being obedient to God in the first place and starting this very important ministry.
I would just like to add that I was on the Restored to Run course last weekend and it was brilliant.
Bless you all.
