Jesus welcomed the people, taught them about the Kingdom of God and healed those in need. Luke 9:11

Seeds of the Kingdom

Are you too busy?

by Sarah Frankham

But the Lord replied to her by saying, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things. Mary has chosen the good portion, that which is to her advantage, which shall not be taken away from her.
Luke 10:41-42, AMP

Each day as I work in Christian ministry I’m reminded of how important spending time with God is. In the past it’s been easy to think ‘if I’m serving God, and fellowshipping with Christians, that’s enough’. But God reminds me that I need to go to Him first, and out of that relationship I can strengthen others.

We’re not to get so busy in life serving that we forget God. Yes, serving God’s important - keeping a clean and tidy house too. But the most important thing is our relationship with God. Everything else comes out of that. We can’t bear fruit unless we remain connected to God (John 15).

‘But Martha (overly occupied and too busy) was distracted with much serving’. Don't get distracted by the work. Every day, set aside time to spend with God. Make this good, quality time. Just being in the same room as God isn't enough. We need to sit at His feet, listen to Him, learn from Him, speak to Him and have deep and intimate fellowship with Him.

When the testing by fire comes, what will be left standing? Not the works we’ve done here on earth, the nice house that we’ve kept, or cars that we’ve bought. It’s our relationship with God. When storms come, it’s on ‘The Rock’ we stand. Start taking the time today to cultivate your relationship with God.

Prayer: Lord, I want to put You first in my life. I’m sorry when I haven't done this. Please help me to step aside from the busyness of the world and to come and sit at Your feet. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
