Never hungry, never thirsty!

I am the Bread of Life. No one coming to me will ever be hungry again. Those believing in me will never thirst.
John 6:35, NKJV

Jesus was very aware of the physical needs of people and He told the disciples to feed the five thousand that were listening to Him teach, but He also wants us to feed on the ‘Living Bread’, from Heaven, that is Himself, and to drink the ‘Living Water’ that is the Holy Spirit, (which Jesus gives as the gift of the Father). God supplies the hungry with food, and we read ‘He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty’ (Luke 1:53).

If we are hungry we can come to Jesus and everything that He is will satisfy our longing hearts. If we are thirsty, we can ask Jesus to fill us with the Holy Spirit, which will cause us to have rivers of ‘Living Water’, welling up within our innermost being and we will be overwhelmingly satisfied with His amazing love and power.

So often we ‘dry up’ and try and eat yesterday’s bread or try and substitute stagnant water for the ‘Living Water’. It looks good but doesn’t quench our thirst. We are created to worship – therefore anything less will leave a vacuum in our lives. Our emptiness will continue and can only be filled by the Living God. Many think that gold or wealth is the answer to everything in life and spend their whole lives pursuing it, but in the end, lose their own souls.

Once you’ve tasted the goodness of the Lord, there’s nothing else that compares with it. Those who love the Lord can testify of this.

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You that You satisfy the deepest longing of my heart. Yours is the Power and the Glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
