Jerusalem

by Lynda Scott

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.””
Psalm 122:6-7, NIV

I have recently had the blessing of having my book “Lynda” published in Hebrew. It is the first book that Ellel Ministries has had published in Hebrew. I have been working with an editor for the past few years as bit by bit the project has come together. With donations from many of my family, church, Ellel Gilbulla and other Ellel friends in Australia we were able to fund the whole project. It was only a few weeks ago that I received in the mail some Hebrew copies of my book. It looked fantastic! More than anything I am amazed that the Lord would want to use my story in Israel at this time in history. He has organised this for His purposes and to impact peoples lives with the truth that Jesus can bring healing to victims of accident and trauma.

As I think about Jerusalem I now have a personal connection with it. People are reading my story in Jerusalem. I heard a testimony of a woman in Jerusalem who read my book and who had a miraculous healing after having suffered major depression after the loss of a child. I was so encouraged. The Lord put inside of me a heart to somehow bless Israel, many years ago. At first I didn`t know how to start. So I started with praying. Then I started with learning about Christian churches and organisations that were helping Jewish people return to Israel. I soon started giving financially in support. Then a few years ago the opportunity to have my book published in Hebrew came up. I was so excited. But it had all started with my obedience in praying for Jerusalem years before.

Jerusalem, I believe, is the most important city in the world! It is the city that King David built and where he established his kingdom. It is where Jesus lived while He was on earth, the place where He was crucified, but also the place where He rose to life again. If that were not enough it is also where He will return in the future as King of kings and Lord of lords. David tells us in Psalm 122 that we are to ‘pray for the peace of Jerusalem.’ I have been so blessed by obeying this command in scripture. So my encouragement to you to-day is to obey it also. You may not always understand. But as you step out in faith God can bring divine connections that are going to bless far more than you. Jesus loves the Jewish people and so should we. What can you do to bless Jerusalem today? Start with prayer.

Prayer: Dear Jesus,Thank you so much for the city of Jerusalem and the nation of Israel. Forgive me if I have not understood how important the Jewish people are to You. I want to obey your word and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Lead me and show me how I can be a blessing to Jerusalem and Israel. We pray there would be peace within the walls of Jerusalem and security within the citadels. We look to Jerusalem and wait for the moment of your return. Hallelujah! Amen.

Lynda Scott was first introduced to Ellel Ministries at a conference led by Peter and Fiona Horrobin in 1996 when she was miraculously healed following a devastating accident. Lynda has continued her association with Ellel Ministries over the years and has recently written her story “Lynda: From Accident & Trauma to Healing & Wholeness.” She lives in Australia with her husband Leigh and 3 children, who are all at school. She works in a local health clinic, as well as helping her husband with the administration of their beef cattle farm.
